A prolific editor of several books on music published in Gajarati, Hindi and English, R.C. Mehta (b. 1918) established The Indian Musicological Society in 1970. He has been a follower of the Kirana gharana and worked at the All India Radio for nine years. He retired from the M.S. University of Baroda as Principal of the College of Indian Music, Dance and Dramatics.
He has received several awards from prestigious non-government organizations and has been awarded Emeritus Fellowship by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Government of India.
