Chitravina Ravikiran

A disciple of Chitravina maestro Narasimhan and T. Brinda, Chitravina N. Ravikiran was acclaimed as a child prodigy for his vocal music. At the age of twelve, he turned to the twentyone-stringed chitravina.

Ravikiran has presented chitravina performances at major international festivals, and has recorded with several record labels as well as radio and television networks.

A prolific composer, Ravikiran has composed within the realm of Carnatic music as well as for for cross- cultural collaborations and dance productions. His collaborations with artistes from other musical cultures have brought him awards like The Millenium Festival Award (UK), and The New Age Voice Finalist Award (USA) for Best Contemporary World Music for 2001. He is also the recipient of other awards such as Star of India, Kalaimamani, Kumar Gandharva Samman, Sangeeta Choodamani and Isai Peroli.

Ravikiran is the author of several articles and books such as "Appreciating Carnatic Music" and "Perfecting Carnatic Music".
