Tejpal Singh, a renowned vocalist, began his early training in Hindustani classical music under his elder brother G.S.Sardar, who imparted training in Patiala and Kirana styles. Later on he went on to learn from Ustad Amir Khan, who taught him the fine points of Khayal singing in the Indore idiom.
While singing, Singh combines chastity of form with creativity of expression. Apart from the specialised Khayal style, Tejpal Singh has made significant contribution to the world of devotional singing. He has composed music for shabads and also lent voice for tele-serials and feature films. He has prestigious awards to his credit and has extensively performed in India and abroad.
