Book launch of 'My name is Gauhar Jaan--the life and times of a musician' by Vikram Sampath in Mumbai. The book traces the life of the first Indian classical musician to record on the gramophone, Miss Gauhar Jaan of Calcutta. The book would be launched by the distinguished panel of guests-- santoor maestro Shivkumar Sharma,  Rajashree Birla, Arvind Parikh and Mahesh Dattani. Mahesh Dattani would read out select passages from the book. The evening would also witness the playing of some rare recordings of the legendary Gauhar Jaan from her original 78 rpm's ripped into a CD that comes along with the book.

The event begins at 6.30 PM with high tea followed by the launch, reading and discussion
