The workshop deals with preservation and management of audiovisual materials – primarily recordings. It is meant to provide an introduction to this area for those who have audio visual collections – not necessarily running archives, and have concerns about preserving them and making decisions about digitization which is a necessity in this day and age. Participants are introduced to basic concepts and given practical demonstrations and a thorough tour of ARCE’s procedures and policies.

      Documentation of Audio Visual Media, Cataloguing and Metadata.
 Automating resources and developing databases
     Issues in Audio Visual Technology – formats and criteria
      Formats and issues for digital storage and handling
       An overview of ARCE procedures
 
Day 3
          
Introduction to digitization and current archival standards
      Selection criteria and maintenance of equipment
     Issues of hardware obsolescence
      Maintenance and playback criteria
    Issues of dissemination and Access to Audio Visual Media and Resources
     Q/A session and feedback

Time  :  10 am to 5 pm each day

Entry : The registration fee for this workshop is Rs. 5000. This includes travel to and from to the AIIS Campus at Gurgaon from the AIIS Office at D-31 Defence Colony, lunch and tea/coffee as well as a comprehensive set of reading materials.
