Born into a rich legacy of music, Bhuvanesh Mukul Komkali is the grandson of Kumar Gandharva and son of Mukul Shivputra. He is presently being trained by vocalists Vasundhara Komkali and Madhup Mudgal. Bhuvanesh is also a self-taught tabla player.

He is currently engaged in archiving and digitising recordings of Kumar Gandharva.
